Streamlining

The streamlining or bodywork of Powered Two Wheelers (PTW's) must correspond to the following specifications.
- No part of the bodywork shall protrude further forward than 50mm in front of the front wheel.
- No part of the bodywork shall protrude further back than 400mm from the back of the rear wheel.
- Maximum permitted width of any bodywork is 1000mm.
- Maximum height of any bodywork, excluding any transparent windscreen, in front of the rider must not be higher than the rider's shoulders when seated in racing position.
- Any transparent windscreen must be lower than the riders eye level when seated in racing position.
- Maximum height of any bodywork behind the rider must not be higher than the rider's helmeted head when seated in racing postion.
- Minimum ground clearance at loaded ride weight is 100mm.
- Aerodynamic devices (examples; aerofoils, dams, spoilers etc.)are prohibited except as an integral part of the bodywork shape.
- Aerodynamic devices that can be moved by the rider, or the vehicle(example;- steering, suspension, brakes, throttle etc.) automatically, even when part of the basic bodyshape, are prohibited.
- No part of the bodywork shall come into contact with the ground at normal race speeds.
- Any bodywork leading edges must have a minimum radius of 8mm and any trailing edges must have a minimum radius of 3.5mm.
- In the event that bodywork encloses the front wheel (as in traditional 'Dustbin' farings), then the rear wheel must also be enclosed by bodywork.
- The rider must be completely visible from either side, except that the rider’s hands, forearms and feet in front of the ankles may be obscured and the seat base may have sides up to 150mm high.
- The race numbers must be positioned so they are clearly visible, in the view of offcial lap scorers, from the front and both sides.
- Mirrors, if fitted, must be shatterproof and fold back without damage when the vehicle is on one side. The mirrors must retain their normal configuration when vehicle is upright.
- Any design should take into account the characteristics of the course, corners and gradients. A diagram is provided for clarification for officially registered teams on www.egrandprix.com and is available on request.
