For the first time, the riders got a chance to complete a dry session here at Anglesey Circuit this morning. Every team except ManTTX made it out for their last chance to test their set up and gain track time before the race this afternoon. ManTTX are still suffering from their electrical failure yesterday, which stopped James out on track. The team are working hard to get out for the race this afternoon. The best lap times this morning were business as usual, with Jenny Tinmouth leading the way setting an impressive time of 1:22.179, some 4 seconds quicker than her qualifying time. Jenny set consistently fast lap times and is happy with her set up, and is certainly looking dominant.
Rob Moon spent most of the session behind his team mate, giving him something to chase, which he complained hindered his qualifying time yesterday, but Jenny has managed to drop him today by around a second from qualifying times. Rob also had quite a scare this morning, pushing flat out around the banking section and finding himself exiting on the grass. He managed to get it back onto the track and continue the session without any drama, quickly settling back down into a strong pace.
Tork India were working hard last night after qualifying to try and give Jim Lovell some more braking force, but hadn't quite perfected a hand operated rear brake system before practice. So the Tork bike is still suffering from a lack of braking power and Jim is finding the bike difficult to handle around this course, needing some drastic suspension upgrades to improve things. Despite this, Jim is hoping to beat the Team Agni machines off the line and ride a defensive race to keep them behind him and maintain his lead in the series.
The British Army's Electric Hussars team with Pete Ward using a Mavizen TTX02 had more issues with their transponder and recorded no official times this morning, but unofficial timing places him very close to Jim Lovell's 1:24.567. Pete is really happy with the set up and gaining ever increasing confidence with each lap. Pete is making no changes for the race and will be pushing to get in the mix with the front three.
Harry Hardi on the LiFeBATT/LiFeTech bike had another good session today and switched places with Adam Palfreman on the Kingston University bike throughout the whole session, but Harry managed to narrowly edge out Adam on every lap. Adam was another rider to take a trip on the grass after the banking section and again we are pleased that he made a smooth recovery back to the tarmac.
With the times between the top four being as close as they are, the race is really hotting up to be a good one and we should see some great battles throughout the field. We are expecting 16 laps of non-stop action right to the chequered flag as we did at Snetterton” only this time we expect even more!
